One thing that I like to wear when the seasons can't quite make up their mind is shorts with tights. This trend started a few years back, with retailers offering shorts in winter fabrics as an alternative to skinny jeans or skirts. I love it because it allows you to play with proportions and adds some variation to a simple look. Designers have shown short suits in both fall and spring collections, and Missoni happened to be one of them. Depending on the weather where you are, you can layer your shorts with either tights or bulky knee socks (as seen in this Missoni look), or both. I chose tights for my look, and then just layered on a vintage coat, sweater top, and vintage hat to winterize the ensemble. Shorts and tights are also great in the rain when paired with knee-length boots, allowing you to look pulled together and protecting your pants from puddles or slush.
